The oval advantage
Primo turns outdoor cooking into a culinary experience. The patented oval shape brings that promise to life. More cooking surface and different cooking zones let you combine ingredients and techniques as you wish.
Split-zone cooking
With split-zone cooking, you prepare different parts of a dish at the same time, each in the way that suits it best. For example, grill a fine cut of meat over direct heat while vegetables cook gently on the other side of the kamado.
Thoughtful down to the detail
Placing a pan or baking dish, adding ingredients or checking how your dish is cooking: the cleverly designed dome opens extra wide, so you can easily reach your food. What’s more, the temperature stays at the right level when you open it.

Now that I’m used to the oval, I can’t imagine I ever chose a round kamado. With the Oval 400 I have the fire on one side and calm on the other. It fits a lot, so I never have to shift or stack anything. My favourite is salmon with asparagus. The salmon sits on the gentle side and turns out tender, with a light smoky flavour. The asparagus goes on the hot side and is ready in a few minutes. Everything reaches the table at the same time. I liked it so much that I made it again the very next week. The temperature stays very stable and I don’t have to keep checking and adjusting. That way I can really be there for my friends without constantly being busy with the food. If I have to name a small downside, it’s that it is heavy, so make sure you have help the first time you set it up. All in all, a real recommendation for anyone who loves a relaxed evening and good food with friends.

As a chef, I’m always looking for the perfect balance between flavour, technique and control. The Primo offers exactly that combination. Its unique oval shape lets me work efficiently with direct and indirect heat and prepare different ingredients at the same time. What appeals to me most is the exceptional temperature stability. Whether I’m cooking low and slow for hours or grilling at high heat, the Primo holds its temperature impressively steady. But in the end, it’s all about flavour. The combination of charcoal, heat and subtle smoky notes gives dishes extra depth and character. On the Primo, even the simplest ingredients turn into culinary highlights.

We have been using the Primo Grill Junior since 2016 and are still extremely happy with it. We cook just about everything on it: from cakes and vegetables to delicious cuts of meat. The barbecue is easy to use and heats up quickly. Since I live alone and my partner only comes over at weekends, this is the perfect size for us. We use it all year round for all kinds of dishes. Highly recommended!
